SAN MARCOS, Texas - San Marcos High School was on a secure lockdown due to a threat the school received on Tuesday.
According to the high school, on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 3:58 p.m., the campus was in a secure lockdown. The reason for the lockdown was due to a threat the school received from an anonymous phone call.
The City of San Marcos said police responded to a call around 3:32 p.m. in reference to an active shooter on campus. A caller said they saw someone with a gun in the hallway.

San Marcos police investigated, and gave the campus the all-clear about an hour later.
At no point was there an armed person or any threat on campus, police said.

School districts team up with police for threats
A sixth Hays CISD student has been arrested and charged for allegedly making a school shooting threat against two middle schools.
"Today, we experienced a false threat at San Marcos HS, and we lean on our community to come together to prevent pranks and false threats from happening in San Marcos. It begins with us, it begins with you, and it begins with each and every student and faculty member," said San Marcos CISD superintendent Dr. Michael Cardona and SMHS principal Twila Guajardo in a joint statement.
San Marcos CISD is working with police to identify the person who reported the false threat. Once that person is identified, if they are a San Marcos CISD student, they will face consequences both at the district and criminal level.
