A San Marcos man faces a felony charge for carrying a gun during a pro-Palestine demonstration at UT Austin.

Michael Maule, 26, was one of the nearly 80 protesters arrested for trespassing during the protest on April 29.

Protests held at UT Austin, Texas State

A protest was held at UT Austin for the third time within a week and ended with troopers arresting dozens of protesters. In San Marcos, Texas State students joined the demonstrators by holding a "sit-in" on campus.

Austin police said they spotted two protesters who had guns. Both were detained for the safety of the rest of the crowd.

Officers found a pocketknife, a loaded handgun and three magazines.
