SAN MARCOS, Texas - The San Marcos Police Department is asking the public for helping identify the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed a pedestrian.
The crash happened in the 1600 block of Post Road on Monday, June 1 at around 10 p.m.
The person killed has been identified as 41-year-old Dwight Garrett Thomas. Police say Thomas and another man were walking either on the edge of the sidewalk or in a bicycle lane when Thomas was struck by a vehicle.
Thomas was taken to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle where he died overnight.
Based on evidence from the scene of the crash, San Marcos police say they believe they're looking for a maroon 2002-2005 Ford Explorer (possibly the Sport Trac model).
The vehicle will be missing the right-front-side turn signal housing and possibly has the front right headlight broken out as well.
