LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - A second girl has died after being struck by a big rig earlier this month while walking to school with her sister.
Amy Lorenzo, 12, died on Monday as a result of the injuries she endured on April 4 when she was struck alongside her sister Marlene by a semi-truck near the intersection of Broadway Place and 37th Street, Moses Castillo, with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Twitter. The sisters were walking to Clinton Middle School at the time.

"It's with deep regret and a heavy heart to announce that Amy Lorenzo died earlier today. Keep her family in your thoughts & prayers. Family has asked for privacy and is very appreciative of the outpouring of community love & support," Castillo said.
Amy's sister Marlene, 14, passed away from her injuries shortly after the accident.
A GoFundMe that was created to assist with Amy's medical bills is now using the funds for her funeral expenses.
Police said they do not believe any criminal activity involved in the collision. The truck driver, who was never identified, was not charged.
