The Austin Police Department is searching for a serial robber, considered armed and dangerous, who robbed two places in a span of a few days both in northeast Austin with both incidents playing out very similar.

Surveillance video captured the moment the suspect robbed a Metro PCS in northeast Austin off I-35. According to APD he walked right in and showed a gun before leaving with some items from the store.

"The suspect is described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s, approximately 5 foot 9 with an average build, having tattoos covering his left and right forearm," APD Detective Andrew Wunderlich said.

Instead of fleeing on foot or in a car, the suspect took off on a mountain bike.

"That's a little bit more unique, that's not unheard of but it's usually on foot or in a vehicle," Wunderlich said.

A few days later and a little farther south, a similar incident happened, this time at a Woodforest National Bank location in a Walmart.

"He entered that bank, displayed a weapon and later left with an undisclosed amount of money," APD senior officer Marcos Johnson said.

The description matched that of the person who hit the Metro PCS.

"Right now the suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s to 40s wearing a white shirt, blue shorts, a cap, dark shades, and he also had tattoos on his arms," Johnson said.

Even the way he fled the scene matches the previous incident.

"When the suspect did leave the scene, he did leave on a bicycle," Johnson said.

Right now police believe both these cases are linked to the same person and are looking for any clues to track this man down. At the bank robbery APD says they are working with the FBI.

Anyone with information on who this person might be is asked to contact police.
