Seven-year-old dies after being ejected in San Marcos rollover crash

A seven-year-old who was involved in a rollover in San Marcos over the weekend has died. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office announced that the seven-year-old passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident.

The child was receiving treatment at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin. Two other children also injured in the accident are in stable condition and remain hospitalized.

Five adults and five children were involved in the rollover in San Marcos on Saturday, May 23. Destiny Bridges, 24, was pronounced dead on the scene. Sean Thompson, 31, succumbed to his injures and was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day. 

According to witnesses, a white 2002 Ford Explorer left IH-35 and flipped multiple times which resulted in the ejection of nine out of the ten occupants. Only the driver was suspected to have been wearing a seatbelt. 

Police say speed and a blown tire are expected to be a factor in the crash.

The incident is still being investigated by the San Marcos Police Department.
