Snow falls in parts of Central Texas
AUSTIN, Texas - This morning a lot of people across Central Texas are waking up to a little bit of snow on cars, roofs and lawns. The winter blast hit late last night but it isn't sticking around for very long.
Snow doesn't fall very often in the area but it did in various parts including Leander, Cedar Park and in most of Austin. Many FOX 7 Austin viewers shared videos and pictures of the snow.
The cold weather meant that the City of Austin activated its cold weather shelters which only happens when the temperature hits 32 degrees or lower.
The shelters have been activated five times this winter season and have housed more than 1,000 people.
