South Austin crash leaves one woman dead

AUSTIN, Texas - A woman has died after she lost control of her car and crashed into a tree in South Austin. 

According to a police investigation, 35-year old Jennifer Tavares was traveling eastbound in the 5800 block of Southwest Parkway when it appears she lost control of her 2006 Honda Accord, left the roadway and crashed. 

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on January 28. Tavares was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:45 p.m.

This is the tenth fatal traffic crash of 2020. At this time last year Austin roadways only had four traffic fatalities.
