The intense flooding washed away more than just debris and boats. In Spicewood a man was rescued after he got swept away trying to save his boats up stream.
It was a faint call in the distance:
“I heard something and it sounded like somebody saying help,” said Jay Diamond a Spicewood resident.
“He was yelling for help,” said Gregg sanders also from Spicewood.
Both Sanders and Diamond were out Tuesday morning watching flood waters rush by their property in Spicewood. Among the debris being swept away was a person.
“Started taking off our clothes to go get him but the current was actually bringing him to shore,” said Diamond.
“He grabbed hold of our swim platform here,” said Sanders.
They along with several others in Spicewood helped get the man out of the raging flood waters and back on land.
“I asked, him where did you come from and he said I came across Starcke Dam,” said Diamond. “He was trying to salvage his boat from being washed away,” said Sanders.
The man came from a place several miles up stream. After drying him off they called for an ambulance. “He got to talk to his wife and assure her he was alright,” said Sanders..
Both Sanders and Diamond say they’ve seen it flood worse in the past but with how things are holding up. They worry the worst has yet to come.
