St. Edward's University cancels classes amidst coronavirus concerns

Classes at St. Edward's University will be canceled for today (3/13). In a post on social media, officials say that the decision was made due to the rapidly evolving situation regarding the coronavirus here in Austin and that they believe it is in the best interest of the campus community to close.

Essential personnel are the only ones that officials say should report to campus.

The announcement from St. Edward's comes after local and county officials held a news conference earlier the morning to discuss the two presumptive positive cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 in Austin-Travis County. They're the first two confirmed cases in the area.

The University of Texas at Austin has also canceled classes for Friday, March 13.
