Student at UT Austin diagnosed with mumps
AUSTIN, Texas - A student at the University of Texas at Austin was diagnosed with mumps at University Health Services on Monday,on March 2.
University Health Services followed established protocols for responding to these cases, according to Dr. Terrance Hines, the Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer of University Health Services. "We retraced the student's activity on campus and notified students who shared the same classes and others considered close contacts," Dr. Hines explained in a statement to FOX 7 Austin.

University Health Services hasn't advised UT students, in general, to take any extra precautions against mumps at this time. Mumps isn't an uncommon illness in this population at this time of the year, according to the university.
