AUSTIN, Texas - A rally was held Tuesday afternoon at Brooke Elementary in East Austin to raise awareness about the potential impact of closing 12 Austin ISD schools if AISD’s proposed school changes plan passes in November.
Students, families, and community members marched and advocated for why Brooke Elementary, a school that has been open since 1954, shouldn't be torn down.
Brooke Elementary is known for being a National Wildlife Federation green flag eco-school.
Parents like Jessica Wilson voiced their concerns.
Reps from Save East Austin Schools, Save Austin Schools and Reframe the Game spoke at the press conference.
