TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas - A propane tanker truck that was leaking propane in western Travis County has been moved out of the roadway. The truck had been involved in a rollover crash earlier in the day with two other vehicles.
The evacuation and shelter-in-place notification for homeowners has been lifted in the area, according to Lakeway PD. Those affected can return if they have access.
The truck should be removed from Flintrock Road within the hour, according to police.
It took first responders a few hours to stop and fix the propane leak.
During the crash, a valve underneath the truck was "sheared off" causing the leak. Officials told FOX 7 Austin's Shannon Ryan that this is highly unusual and that this is why it took so long to come up with a solution.
One person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to ATCEMS. First responders with the Travis County Sheriff's Office, Lake Travis Fire Fighters Association, and Lakeway Police Department all responded to the incident.
The three-vehicle crash happened on Flint Rock Road, near Pawnee Pass S, this morning. Flint Rock Road is blocked off in both directions and people are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes. There is still residual propane gas in the area.
Some residents have been asked to evacuate and others are being asked to shelter in place as a precaution. The homes being affected are between Pawnee Pass and Jack Nicklaus Drive, along or near Flintrock Road. Officials say those in the affected area will be receiving reverse 9-1-1 notification with instructions.
Details on the crash remain scarce as crews have to wait until the leak is sealed to reconstruct the accident, according to an official with TCSO.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
