TCSO recovers body of second missing canoer

AUSTIN, Texas - The Travis County Sheriff's Office has recovered the body of a missing canoer. TCSO shared the update in a tweet on Wednesday, May 27.

Two canoers went missing on Monday night, according to ATCEMS. Multiple rescue assets responded to a water rescue around 8 p.m. in the 1000 block of Falwell Lane.

Crews are still on scene as the search continues. FOX 7 Austin's Kacey Bowen has an update.

STAR Flight was dispatched to assist in looking for the pair alongside four rescue swimmers and Travis County Fire Rescue and Austin Fire Department boats in the water. After 40 minutes, the rescue turned into a recovery effort, according to ATCEMS.

The body of the other canoer, identified only as a female in her 50s, was recovered at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.
