Texas Baseball heading to Omaha for CWS

It's official, Texas Baseball is going to Omaha. They won their ticket to the College World Series, leaving fans overjoyed with excitement.

It’s not just about the win, the team played their hearts out during the game in honor of their late coach Augie Garrido.

A 5-2 win over Tennessee Tech sends Texas Baseball to the College World Series for the 36th time in program history.

"This is great. We’re going to go to Omaha. We're going to go there, we're going to do Augie right. We're going to treat Texas Baseball right, we're going to set Texas right. What do y'all want to do? You want to go to Omaha with me? I think you should go to Omaha with me,” says Justin Murphy, Texas Baseball fan.

It’s not just fans on the inside cheering the team on. We're told buses on the outside, like The Bullpen, have the best view in town.

"Well it's designed for out here [baseball]. You know, the platform where everybody can stand up here and see over right field,” says Mark Jackson, Texas Baseball fan.

It’s been parked there every season for the past 15 years but they say this season was different. They suffered the loss of legendary coach Augie Garrido.

“You know, the team has always had the talent, it just seemed like they all needed to come together. We know there was an event in the middle of the season that kind of brought them all together. They just took it from there and kept winning,” says Jackson.

Garrido last coached the Longhorns in 2016, then became a special assistant in the Texas Athletic Department. The five-time national champ had the most college baseball victories ever. The team and fans say Monday's victory was in his honor.

"I wish Augie was here to see it, but I’m hoping he is still seeing it because it's so much fun. So much fun for everybody who's here all the time... those guys in left field who just put their heart out all the time, those guys on the field that put their heart out every single day,” says Murphy.

Texas Baseball even tweeted out a photo saying:

"Every single one of Augie Garrido's signing classes at Texas has now made it to Omaha."
From future, to current, to former Longhorns - this is bringing fans of all ages together.

“I’ve been coming out here ever since I was a year old, I’m 14 now. It holds a special place in my heart,” says Hannah Jackson, wants to be a Longhorn.

"We’ve got one more goal, we've got one more goal... we're going to go to Omaha and we're going to bring it back to Austin, Texas. National championship guys, hook 'em!" says Murphy.

The College World Series starts Saturday. Texas will open Sunday. It will be their first time to Omaha since 2014.
