AUSTIN, Texas - Another ruling is causing controversy for lawmakers in Washington and at the state level.
At the Texas State Capitol Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott once again said he'll keep fighting against President Obama's immigration plan.
Senator Ted Cruz (R), Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Attorney General Ken Paxton echoed the governor's call for blocking immigrants in the U.S. illegally from staying here.
"It's worth underscoring what the federal court ordered was very simple. It was that the President's amnesty order of November was on its face illegal," said Sen. Cruz.
The four vowed to leave troops at the U.S.-Mexico border until as Abbott said his plan to secure it was "in effect."
As Attorney General, Abbott filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration in December to try to halt the President's Executive Order allowing the stay. On Monday, a federal judge in Texas blocked the President's plan from going into effect for the time being.
"My 31st and last lawsuit against President Obama may turn out to be the one that has the greatest Constitutional consequence," said Governor Abbott.
The Executive Order would have started Wednesday and would have allowed those 4 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally to apply for a three year deportation stay and work permits. The President says he will fight the ruling.
