The Sobering Center Austin to be converted into COVID-19 quarantine shelter
AUSTIN, Texas - Austin’s downtown sobering center will be converted into a quarantine shelter for those who are infected with the coronavirus COVID-19.
Travis County commissioners approved the measure at their meeting Tuesday morning.

Board chairperson Jana Ortega said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Sobering Center Austin hasn’t had much usage, so this is a way that the center could be of help to the city during this crisis.
