Thousands of people are competing in this year's sold out Life Time Tri CapTex.

The 29th annual edition of the always popular event will feature participants from eight different countries and 33 states.

They'll all be taking on the swim, bike and run event that begins with the swimming portion at Lady Bird Lake at around 7 a.m.

Participants have the option of competing in one of three triathlon distances.

The first is the international distance which is a .93 mile swim, 24.3 mile bike and a 6.2 mile run.

The second is the sprint distance which is half of the international.

The last is the super sprint distance which is the shortest. It includes a quarter of a mile swim, 6.3 mile bike ride and a run of a little more than three miles.

The biking portion of the course takes athletes right into the heart of downtown Austin and directly to the State Capitol.

The run goes through Butler Park, Barton Springs Road and West Riverside with the finish line at Auditorium Shores.
