Timothy Parlin's capital murder conviction upheld by First Court of Appeals
AUSTIN, Texas - The First Court of Appeals in Houston has affirmed the capital murder conviction of Timothy Parlin.
Parlin was sentenced to automatic life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the murders of Kathy Blair and elderly couple Sidney and Billie Shelton.
Trial underway for man accused in three murders
The Court of Appeals used Parlin's confessions and his statements regarding a burglary of a separate woman's home and her possible murder as the reasons behind affirming the ruling. The court cited that these actions proved his planning and intent in the murders of Blair and the Shelton couple.
Travis County District Attorney Margaret Moore responded to the Court’s ruling by saying, “We knew there were complex legal issues involved in this case and made the decision early on to assign an experienced appellate lawyer to the trial team. We are proud of the hard work our prosecutors put into this case and glad to see the Court’s ruling, which will bring more closure to the families of Kathy Blair and the Sheltons.”
