TRAFFIC ALERT: 6 transported after two multiple-vehicle crashes on I-35 North in North Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - Two multiple-vehicle crashes closed I-35 North in both directions at Showplace Lane in North Austin Thursday afternoon.

The Austin Fire Department reported one multiple-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of the 8700 block of I-35 North. A second multiple-vehicle crash was then reported in the southbound lanes.

AFD says as of 3:57 p.m. there are a total of seven fire trucks and five ambulances on scene.

EMS reported a vehicle rescue in the area for a woman in her 20s who was trapped in her car around 3:34 p.m. 

A man in his 20s and a woman in her 20s with serious injuries and a woman in her 20s with life-threatening injuries were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center.

Two men, one in his 40s and one in his 50s were also transported with non-life threatening injuries to Dell Seton Medical Center. One other person was transported to St. David's ER with non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway has since reopened.
