APH provides COVID-19 update to Travis Co. Commissioners Court - 1/5/21

Austin Public Health officials discuss latest data and also provide an update on vaccine distribution.

The Travis County Commissioners Court got its weekly update from Austin Public Health about the latest on the coronavirus and it also got information about vaccine distribution in the area.

Today's update came after local black leaders, Austin City Council member Natasha-Harper Madison, Manor Mayor Larry Wallace, Pflugerville council member Rudy Metayer, Representative Sheryl Cole, and Commissioner Jeff Travillion are all expressing concern over the vaccine rollout. They said as it phases in, certain communities in the region are not providing equal access to the life-saving vaccine.

Advocates call for action to address inequities in vaccine distribution

Local leaders believe not only has COVID highlighted healthcare inequities, but there is now also inequities in vaccine distribution.
