TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas - Travis County is giving residents the chance to give their Christmas trees another life.
Travis County is providing free live Christmas tree recycling at drop-off locations across the county.
Only natural trees can be recycled; no plastic or artificial trees will be accepted. Residents are advised to remove all ornaments, decorations, lights, tree stands, nails, staples and metal.

No trees sprayed with flocking or artificial snow will be accepted.
Trees taller than six feet must be cut in half and no trees in a "tree bag" or any plastic bag will be accepted.
Trees can be dropped off at any of these four locations: the West Service Center in Austin, the Del Valle Adult Softball Complex in Del Valle, the 1431 Collection Station in Leander, and the East Service Center in Austin.

The service is free and locations will be available until Friday, Jan. 10.
