Southbound lanes of I-35 in Kyle are shut down and are expected to stay that way for several more hours after two early morning crashes.

The most recent happened around 2:30 a.m. at mile marker 213. It involved four 18 wheelers and a truck. The driver of the truck was airlifted to a local hospital. No word on the driver's condition.

That crash came just hours after a man was killed in a separate crash at Yarrington. In the Yarrington crash, an 18 wheeler rear ended a truck who was pushed into another 18 wheeler. The truck then caught on fire.

Two men inside the truck were taken to the hospital with serious injuries while a third man died at the scene.

As the investigation into the crashes continues, drivers are asked to use caution in the area and expect delays.

FOX 7 has learned that an off-duty APD officer was involved in one of the crashes. The officer was taken to to the hospital but no current word on the officer's condition.
