Two hospitalized after fire at Southeast Austin homeless camp
AUSTIN, Texas - Investigators are looking into an early morning fire at a homeless camp in Southeast Austin.
The Austin Fire Department says that the fire started around 3:30 Thursday morning in the woods along East Stassney Lane, near the Williamson Creek Greenbelt.
Investigators said two people were burned. Austin Travis County EMS reported that their injuries are potentially life-threatening.
AFD said the fire burned a combination of belongings and trash.
Investigators said the fire was unintentional. They believe it was started by the spread of a cooking fire or a fire to keep people warm.
