Two killed in rollover accident in San Marcos

Two people are dead after they were thrown from a vehicle in San Marcos.

Two people were killed in a rollover crash in San Marcos Thursday night. 

According to the San Marcos Police Department, the single-vehicle accident happened in the 1000 block of northbound State Highway 23 shortly before midnight on Thursday, January 2. When officers arrived on scene, they found two people who had been ejected from the vehicle. 

The purple 1998 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the state highway when it veered to the right and struck a driveway culvert and rolled over, according to police. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle, neither of them were wearing seatbelts. 

The driver, 53-year-old Daniel F. Aguilar, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 56-year-old Raymond D. Silguero, was transported by Hays County EMS to Ascension Seton Hospital in Kyle, Texas. Silguero died at the hospital. 

These are the first and second traffic fatalities in San Marcos for 2020.  

The SMPD Collision Investigation Team is still investigating the incident.
