Two killed in South Austin apartment fire

The Austin Fire Department is investigating a deadly apartment fire. At least two people were killed in the early morning fire. 

According to the fire department, the fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, July 15 in the 2900 block of Barton Skyway. The two alarm fire was extinguished within 30 minutes, according to AFD.

After an initial search of the complex, firefighters said no one was hurt.

When firefighters searched again, they found two bodies in a part of the apartment complex that had collapsed from the fire damage.

Firefighters are continuing to search through the debris. Other residents at the complex believe there was a third person who was living in the same unit that the bodies were found in.

 

 

At least 9 people are displaced because of this fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
