Two Texas State students dead in apparent murder-suicide in San Marcos
SAN MARCOS, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Two Texas State University students have died in an apparent murder-suicide Sunday, according to a release from the city of San Marcos.
San Marcos PD responded to a report of two deceased individuals at a home in the 1400 block of Highland Drive Sunday morning. Officers found one man's body inside with multiple gunshot wounds and another in the backyard from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Matthew Bond Pfluger, 24, and Connor Patrick Shannon, 24, were found by a friend who notified police just before 9:30 a.m. Both were residents of the home, attended Texas State and were described as close friends.
The initial investigation indicates Pfluger shot Shannon multiple times inside the home before attempting to kill himself with a knife. He then went to the backyard and shot himself in the head.
This is the fourth homicide and the second murder-suicide San Marcos PD has investigated this year.
