We Rock The Spectrum is a new gym in Austin which caters to kids with autism and special needs by allowing them to have fun in a safe environment.
Milan Helm has worked for years with children who have special abilities but she noticed there weren't many resources for them outside of school.
"The fact that we work so hard for these inclusion purposes and that it's not carried on after school is one of my reasons "rock" wanted a "we rock" in Austin because I believe inclusion is something we're really lacking," Helm says.
Helm is now a franchise owner of We Rock The Spectrum kids gym which is a place for kids of all ability levels to grow and learn together.
The grand opening was over the weekend at 7010 West Highway 71.
Each gym features ten pieces of therapeutic equipment. It's specifically designed to work with many of the sensory processing issues that children on the spectrum face.
It's not just for children with special needs. Helm says it's a safe and inclusive hangout for all children and event teens. A place where they don't feel judged and their families can feel comfortable.
