United Airlines announces 8 new international destinations for summer 2025 expansion

LOS ANGELES - United Airlines is gearing up for its biggest international expansion yet, adding eight new destinations for summer 2025. This move is part of an overall increase in services that will see over 760 weekly international flights.
Starting in May, travelers flying from Newark, New Jersey can visit several new destinations, including Bilbao, Spain, Faro, Portugal, and Palermo, Italy. In June, United will introduce flights to Madeira Island, Portugal, and Nuuk, Greenland, offering more diverse travel options for adventurous passengers.
United will also launch flights from Washington, D.C. to Dakar, Senegal in May and from Tokyo to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in July. Another route from Tokyo to Kaohsiung, Taiwan will begin in July as well, opening up additional travel opportunities in Asia.
The airline has plans to increase service to existing destinations, including new routes from Washington, D.C. to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy. Seasonal flights to Athens, Greece, and Dubrovnik, Croatia, will also return earlier in 2025, with bookings available as early as March.
Free WiFi for passengers by 2025
In addition to its route expansion, United Airlines announced last month that it has partnered with Elon Musk's SpaceX to offer Starlink WiFi services on flights. This satellite-based internet service will allow passengers to connect multiple devices at no cost. Testing of Starlink WiFi is set to begin in early 2025, with full implementation on select flights later in the year.
