The family of Jesus Juarez released a press release.
According to the release, "Jesus was not a burglar or an illegal immigrant as initially reported. He was a well-known, church-going, beloved and life-long resident of Lockhart, Texas."

The Caldwell County District Attorney's Office is releasing video from the night Jesus Juarez, 65, was shot and killed in Lockhart.
Investigators say a woman made a 911 call to the Lockhart Police Department at 4 a.m. on April 1. She told dispatch, "a man broke my window he's mad."
Caldwell County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call. The report shows the Lockhart Police Department asked for their assistance as their officers were handling other calls. Caldwell County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Taylor was one of the responding deputies.
When he arrived, according to the D.A.'s office, after locating the suspect (Mr. Juarez), he saw him "standing nearby holding a long-handled, bladed weedcutter, commonly known as a yoyo. The Deputy drew his weapon and ordered the the individual to drop the weedcutter. The suspect refused and began advancing towards the deputy. The deputy began retreating while continuing to order the suspect to drop the weedcutter.
After each command to drop the weedcutter, the suspect stated "no" and continued to advance towards the deputy. The yoyo was raised in an upright position over the suspects shoulder. The deputy continued to retreat across the breadth of the street and into an adjacent field as the suspect continued to advance. At that point the deputy fired three shots striking the suspect. EMS responded to the scene but was unable to save the life of the suspect."
While Texas Rangers continue their investigation into the shooting, Caldwell County District Attorney Fred Weber, said releasing the materials now is important, as he hopes they will put any speculation to rest. "We want to be as transparent as possible about what occurred. sometimes rumors and misinformation spread rapidly through our community."
D.A. Weber also believes there Juarez may have been suffering with mental illness.
"I think it's going to be evident that there was mental health issues involved," he says, "Our goal is to determine the extent of the mental health issues and what role they played if any."
Weber confirms that Taylor worked at the Caldwell County Jail from 2010-2013, then he became a Patrol Deputy. He says Taylor is on desk duty as the investigation continues.
FOX 7 has confirmed that Taylor is listed in a lawsuit, for falsifying an arrest record. The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office says they cannot comment on the lawsuit s it's still making it's way through the legal system.
