UT Austin could expand on top of I-35 after land agreement with TxDOT
AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Texas could expand its campus on top of I-35.
On Wednesday, the UT System Board of Regents approved a land agreement with TxDOT. This is part of the state's plan to lower and widen I-35 through downtown Austin near the 40 acres.
UT will be responsible for future caps and stitches above the roadway between Dean Keeton and 15th Streets.
On the land above, UT could add buildings and other public spaces.
