AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Texas at Austin is inviting the Austin community to the official Moody Center Groundbreaking Ceremony.

The ceremony will take place on December third at the site of the new arena, just south of the Mike A. Myers stadium. The event will be free to the general public, however, UT is asking attendees to RSVP in advance.

Live music by Moon Taxi and free food will be available to everyone attending. Some favorite Austin food trucks will be onsite including Garbo's Lobster Rolls, Ranch Hand, and Sugar Rush. There will also be happy pricing on wine and beer. All fans coming to the event will also be able to claim a free ticket to the Texas Men's Basketball vs. UAB game following the concert.

4:30 p.m. – Grounds Open
4:30 p.m. – Photo ops with Bevo XV and Texas Cheer
5 p.m. – Moody Center Groundbreaking Ceremony
5:30 p.m. – Live Concert by Moon Taxi
7 p.m. – Texas Men’s Basketball vs. UAB (at Frank Erwin Center)
Earlier this month UT announced that the Moody Center, a state-of-the-art 10,000 seat arena, will be replacing the 42-year-old Frank C. Erwin Jr. Center.
