AUSTIN, Texas - Gone without a trace, it’s been 11 years to the day since Roxanne Paltauf was last seen outside an Austin hotel.
Her family and friends aren't giving up the search to find her, each year they come together to pass out fliers with Roxanne’s face and information asking for the public’s help in finding her.
According to the Paltauf family, Roxanne was last seen near the Budget Inn off I-35 and Rundberg Lane before she went missing on July 7, 2006.
Rosalynn Paltauf said her sister’s boyfriend at the time called the family and told them that Roxanne and him had gotten into an argument and that she stormed out leaving all of her belongings behind. "I know he has the answers that we are looking for. And I just want to make that clear that someone knows and that we are suffering as a family," said Rosalynn.
Over the years Austin police have received nearly a thousand leads on the case, but unfortunately nothing has turned up.
Roxanne' friends and family come together every year on the anniversary of her disappearance to raise awareness of her case and to keep Roxanne's memory alive.
Her sister Rosalynn was just 15 when Roxanne disappeared.
"That's when it really hit me. When she wasn't there for my birthday,I thought this is real. Will we be one of those families that would go years and years without knowing?"
Her mother Elizabeth Harris remembers details about her Roxanne’s personality that made her one of a kind.
"She was beautiful, not just the outside but inside too. She loved and cared for people, she was selfless. She gave to others she was truly like that and it’s what made her really special," said Harris.
As time goes on, her family and friends still holds on to hope that one day Roxanne will return home.
"Just to be reunited with her and hold her again. Give her extra I love you and extra hug," said Harris.
"Of course I want to hope for the best for my sister Roxanne but I would rather know than not know. Once you know you can grieve but being in limbo you can't mourn. But still I keep hope alive that she'll come home one day," said Rosalynn.
Harris believes that someone knows what happened to Roxanne. "There's a missing link. It's too easy; too solvable. She just disappeared and we can't find her somebody knows something," said Harris.
