Williamson County warning public of jury duty scam
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas - The Williamson County District Clerk is warning residents in Williamson and other surrounding counties about a phone scam happening in the area.
According to officials, people have been receiving calls from someone who claims to be a county official or law enforcement officer alerting them that the victims have failed to appear for jury duty and could face jail time.
The caller will then demand the victim to pay a certain amount of money and to visit the Justice Center to see District Clerk Lisa David to lift the warrant.
David is assuring the public that Williamson County does not use this practice against those who miss jury duty and has not requested that any calls be made in her name.
If you receive a call like the one mentioned, hang up and call the Willaimson County Sheriff's Office at 512-943-1300.
