Woman living in sanctuary in Austin could face up to ten years in prison, says ICE

AUSTIN, Texas - As the year comes to an end, seven women continue to live in sanctuary in the US, not knowing where they may be in 2020.

One woman, Hilda Ramirez, is here in Austin and received a hefty fine from ICE, charging her a civil penalty of nearly $800 a day for being in the country illegally.

The fine had been rescinded, but now she's being threatened with civil fines and prison time.

ICE says Ramirez could face up to ten years in prison if convicted.
