AUSTIN, Texas - It's been over a year since Westlake's 5 star big man chose to play his college basketball at Texas and now after struggling for most of his freshman season he's finally flashing the skills that had Longhorn fans excited.
Will Baker had a sizzling 20 point effort in the Longhorns most recent game and considering that Baker had a total of 16 points in his first 17 college games it was a pleasant surprise.
"It was frustrating when I was missing those shots, but the coaches just told me to stay with it and be ready," Baker says. "I was definitely ready to go out there and show what I could do, so really just staying prepared and doing that all I can do to be ready."
Head basketball coach Shaka Smart agreed with Baker saying, "He deserves a lot of credit for the extra work he's put in. He's in the gym earlier this week running extra lengths of the floor just to continue to get in better shape. Shooting the ball over, over and over again, so we knew a game like tonight was coming at some point."
