Early National Signing Day for area student athletes
AUSTIN, Texas - It was early National Signing Day for sports other than football and several area high schools are sending student athletes to the next level.
Westake is sending another Chappral to the 40 Acres and this time it's in women's basketball. Shay Holle will continue a family tradition at the University of Texas as her father Eric Holle was a Longhorn football captain in the early 80's.
6' guard Shay is a four start talent and says she's happy she'll get to wear burnt orange.
"Definitely, I mean, there's pictures of me in my Longhorn gear, since I was like four. My dad played football there, so I've been a Longhorn fan for a long time, Shay says. "Having a competitive family definitely made us all get to our potential for sure. We all push each other. I've been dreaming about this for a while, so to make it official is a big deal."
Shay's twin sisters, Brooke and Bailey, are also in the Division I ranks. The twins are both starting their senior seasons at Texas State.
Speaking of Texas State, Shay's Westlake teammate Presley Bennett will be playing basketball there.
Congrats to all the families sending kids to the next level!
