Liberty Hill was the only team in Class 4A that wasn't ranked in the top five heading into the state tournament. The Panthers had a thrilling upsets over 5th ranked Dector in the semis and was hoping to win its first state title.
Coach Blake Boren was hoping to get one more win against 2nd ranked Oak Clif Fatih Family Academy and they led 30-20 heading into the break.
Liberty Hill led by six early in the fourth quarter but the Eagles battled back and took the lead before the Panthers tied it up 51-51 with under 30 seconds to go.
But in the closing seconds right before the buzzer goes the Eagles score and the Panthers lost a heartbreaking game 53-51.
