Texas Longhorns advance in College Football Playoffs with 38-24 victory over Clemson Tigers
AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Longhorns took down the Clemson Tigers in their first-ever meeting to advance in the College Football Playoffs.
The Tigers scored first on their opening possession on a 22-yard pass from Cade Klubnik to Antonio Williams.

The Longhorns would answer on their first possession on a 3-yard run from Quintrevion Wisner.
The Longhorns would account for the next two scores in the game with a 23-yard run from Jaydon Blue and an 18-yard touchdown run from Wisner.

Wisner ran the ball 15 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns for the Longhorns.

The Tigers would add a field goal with just over two minutes to play in the first half to make the score 21-10.
Longhorn quarterback Quinn Ewers would lead the Longhorns down the field in just over a minute with the clock winding down in the half and connect with Gunnar Helm for a 19-yard passing touchdown to push the lead to 28-10 at halftime.
Ewers passed for 202 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a game that saw the Longhorns put up nearly 300 yards on the ground.
Texas would put another 3 points on the board to start the third quarter and extend the lead to 31-10.
The Tigers would answer near the end of the quarter, scoring a touchdown on a 25-yard pass from Klubnik to Jarvis Green.
The Tigers would cut the lead to 7 after Klubnik found T.J. Moore in the end zone on fourth down early in the 4th quarter.
The games final score would come on Blue's second touchdown of the Longhorns when he took off for 77 yards.
Blue ran the ball 14 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
The Longhorns will face the Arizona State Sun Devils on Jan. 1 in the Peach Bowl.
Quarterback rivalry renewed
Though this is the first time Texas and Clemson have met on the football field. The teams' quarterbacks are no strangers to each other.
Quinn Ewers of Texas and Cade Klubnik of Clemson met in 2021 in the Texas Class 6A state championship.
