Austin weather: Rain cools down central Texas

This morning's rain helped cool down the Austin area, and cooler temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s can be expected the rest of this week. Zack Shields explains in his full forecast.

How about the biggest daily rainfall for Austin since May 13th?

Much of the area received 1 to 2" of rain this morning.

A few leftover showers are possible this morning but drier and cooler times are ahead this afternoon.

Today we will stay in the upper 70s and low 80s for the first time since June 5th.

Another cold front arrives late on Friday and it will be a dry and windy one.

The front will usher in a reinforcing shot of chill for the weekend with dry skies.

Fall is finally in the air!
