Austin weather: Cold front expected to drop temperatures near freezing next week

While some parts of Central Texas have already seen some cool mornings in 2025, a cold front moving through the area will make sure we all feel the chill next week.

What We Know: A strong cold front is expected to move through the area on Sunday.

We don't expect to see any rain or storms from the front.

Cool air will filter into Central Texas and stick around.

Temperatures in Austin will be in the high 30s to low 40s on Monday morning before warming up to the mid 50s.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, low temperatures in the Austin area could creep just below freezing.

What We Don't Know: Wednesday and Thursday there is a chance that some people in our area could see a wintry mix or snow, but at this point it is too early to tell.

Different computer models are showing different things for our area.

The GFS calls for a bit of winter precipitation on Wednesday and Thursday, while the Euro shows us staying dry.

The system is still a ways away and the forecast could change as we get closer to next week.

The chances of seeing a possible wintry mix will become clearer in the next few days.
