Flooding in North Texas, severe weather in other parts of U.S.

FOX Weather's Robert Ray has more on what it looked like in Dallas this morning and in other parts of the United States.

The hard and dry ground won't be able to absorb all of it so localized flooding is possible.

There is still expected to be some scattered showers and a few storms but temperatures will remain cooler.

Flood safety

The National Weather Service wants to remind the public to practice flood safety, and to "turn around, don't drown." It takes just six inches of fast-moving water to knock over an adult, and just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away most cars. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

NWS says in hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.

Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
