23-year-old identified as missing swimmer who died at Muleshoe Bend Park
SPICEWOOD, Texas - The Travis County Sheriff's Office has identified the swimmer who drowned at Muleshoe Bend Park as 23-year-old Micheal Ihekwoaba of Austin.
First responders with ATCEMS, the Pedernales Fire Department, Lake Travis Fire Rescue, and Travis County STAR Flight were dispatched to the recreation area around 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 for reports of an adult that was swimming, went under the water and did not resurface.

First responders transitioned from rescue to recovery mode after being unable to find the adult swimmer within the first hour of the search.
The body was recovered when the Pedernales Fire Department was able to locate it with sonar, according to TCSO. Ihekwoaba was recovered in water that was 7 to 10 feet deep.

An investigation into the cause and manner of death is being conducted by TCSO and the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office.
