Affidavit: Man hit four DPS patrol cars, one with a trooper inside, to get trooper's attention
AUSTIN, Texas - A man was arrested after Texas DPS troopers say he hit four DPS patrol cars, one with a trooper inside, on purpose in an attempt to get the trooper's attention last week in downtown Austin.
Eugenio Flores Olivares Jr, 46, was charged with aggravated assault on a public servant, a first-degree felony.
DPS says on Feb. 13 troopers were called to assist a trooper who said he had been in a car accident on 12th and Guadalupe streets. The trooper said the driver that hit him said he hit the patrol car on purpose.

The driver, identified as Olivares, was detained at the scene and interviewed, says an arrest affidavit. Olivares said he needed help and wanted to get the trooper's attention. During the investigation of the crash and assault, DPS discovered Olivares had also struck a total of three additional DPS units parked along Colorado Street.
Video evidence of Olivares was also obtained and Olivares admitted to striking the other three units, says the affidavit. Olivares has also been charged with state-jail felony criminal mischief for crashing into the other three DPS units.
Bail has been set at $50,000.
