Austin police have arrested a man they say set a condo on fire.

What We Know: Police were called to the Foundry Condos on E. 4th Street on the night of Dec. 21, 2024.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the 911 caller told dispatchers that they heard glass breaking, verbal threat and the sound of physical violence coming from a nearby unit.

When officers arrived at the complex, the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Christopher Duvall, refused to open the door.

According to documents, officers heard Duvall threatening to set his apartment on fire. A short time later, they smelled smoke coming from the unit and the fire alarm going off.

When police entered the condo, they saw two fires and Duvall was nowhere to be found.

Officers outside of the building say they saw Duvall climb from the balcony of one unit to another. He was arrested shortly after and the fires were put out with the help of the Austin Fire Department.

Duvall has been charged with arson, a first-degree felony.

By The Numbers: Investigators estimate the fire did $35,000 worth of damage.
