AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Film Society Cinema will be closing temporarily in response to the coronavirus.
The closure will be going into effect on Friday, March 20 and will be in place until further notice.
"Following the recommendations of the CDC and Austin Public Health, the Austin Film Society believes the best course of action to keep the community safe is temporary closure," AFS said in a press release.

Anyone who has purchased a ticket for an upcoming screening can visit the AFS website for refund options. AFS says member benefits will be on hold until the Cinema reopens and will be extended to make up for the closure.

Special programs already scheduled will be postponed and announced at a later date.

"The safety and well-being of all of our visitors is very important -- we look forward to resuming our signature programming and welcoming everyone back soon," AFS said.
