SAN MARCOS, Texas - Just over 700 people were tested at the free COVID-19 testing site set up in San Marcos Sunday.
At least 701 people were tested at Bonham Pre-K school on June 14. The testing was coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Texas National Guard, Hays County, San Marcos CISD, and the city.

“Our first mobile site in San Marcos tested more people in one day than any other drive-thru test site in Texas and that’s an amazing accomplishment,” said Emergency Management Coordinator Rachel Ingle. “This one-day response shows the importance of offering additional free testing opportunities for our community and we thank Superintendent Cardona and SMCISD for providing the facilities for the event.”

Additional free testing opportunities will be available throughout Hays County this week. Each location will have access to drive-up and walk-up testing lanes:
- Simon Middle School in Kyle – Wednesday, June 17 from 4-8 p.m.
- Uhland Elementary in Uhland – Thursday, June 18 from 4-8 p.m.
- McCormick Middle School in Buda – Friday, June 19 from 4-8 p.m.
- Bowie Elementary in San Marcos – Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Additional locations may be added.

Appointments are required for drive-up testing with registration starting 24 hours in advance. To make an appointment, call 512-883-2400 or go online. Appointments for walk-ups are also recommended to expedite the process but not required.
Results are expected to be available to participants 10-25 days following the testing. More free testing opportunities are expected to be announced for Hays County soon.
