Facebook thinks we are all dead
Are we all dead? Facebook users reported that their pages displayed a memorial banner that read: "Remembering [user name] / We hope people who love [name] will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate [user's] life." An image of a flower accompanied the post.
It is unclear how widespread the glitch was, but it appeared to afflict even the profile of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
"For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts," a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Fox5NY.com." This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it."
What do you do if Facebook thinks you're dead? Point it out on Twitter, of course.
