Man dies in construction accident in Georgetown
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Jose De Jesus Diaz-Valenzuela.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal construction accident in Georgetown.
According to Sheriff Chody, detectives were dispatched around 5 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the 2900 block of Highway 29. The accident had occurred happened on a private road off of the county road.
WATCH WCSO UPDATE ON FATAL CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT
Roughly twenty construction workers had been working and setting a gas pipe line when the accident occurred. The pipeline had already been set and fully covered with dirt.
Detectives learned that a grater truck was smoothing out the dirt and the driver of that truck did not notice two fellow construction workers who were walking near the construction machine.
One of the workers was hit by the grater truck.
The victim was still alert and conscious but immediately began complaining of pain.
ATCEMS responded and while treating the victim he went into cardiac arrest.
His name has not been released at this time.
According to Sheriff Chody, the victim was in his late thirties and from the Dallas, Texas area.
OSHA will be conducting an individual investigation into the accident as well.
