Man struck by truck while in the middle of Northeast Austin road

AUSTIN, Texas - A man was struck and killed by a truck while walking in the middle of the road in Northeast Austin.

The Austin Police Department says 58-year-old Mauricio Garcia was in the middle of the inside lane in the 7200 block of Cameron Road Thursday night when a white 2012 Ford F-150 was heading northbound in the inside lane and struck him.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

APD says this is Austin's 64th fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 66 fatalities. At this time last year, there were 53 fatal traffic crashes and 54 traffic fatalities.
